The Human Rights Foundation (HRF) unveiled the Finney Freedom Prize on Bitcoin’s fourth halving day to celebrate the flagship crypto for enabling elevated financial freedom for the world.
The award is designed to honor major world achievements in Bitcoin and human rights, reflecting Finney’s imaginative and prescient of the spend of skills as a tool for liberation.
The inaugural Finney Freedom Prize became awarded posthumously to Hal Finney, recognizing his pioneering work all over Bitcoin’s first halving generation from 2009 to 2012. Finney’s widow, Fran Finney, who authorized the award on his behalf, chose to donate the prize to charity and acknowledged:
